Detailed Itinerary

Day 01. Arrive to Paro

Arrive Paro. Afternoon visit National Museum & Paro Dzong. Evening stroll around the Paro town. Welcome dinner and over night at hotel.

Day 02. Paro Halt

Hike to Taktshang Goenpa (Taktshang Monastery). Afternoon visit Drukgyel dzong and Kyichu Lhakhang. Evening visit farmhouse for dinner, Suja (Butter Tea) and Ara (Local Alchol). . Over night stay at hotel.

Day 03. Paro – Jele dzong (Trek Starts)

The trek begins above from the National museum. On clear days, the snow-capped mountains can be seen. The camp site- near old Jele Dzong.
Altitude 3,350m; Distance 10 Km; Time 3 – 4 hours.

Day 04. Jele Dzong – Jangchuklhakha

The trek passes through the thick alpine forest of rhododendron; yaks and yak herders can be seen en route. Overnight at the camp, Jangchuklhakha.
Altitude 3,700m; Distance 12 Km; Time 4 – 5 hours.

Day 05. Jangchulakha – Jimilangtso

Mountains can be viewed on clear days and the lake-Jimilangtsho. Overnight at the camp, Jimilangtsho.
Altitude 3,800m; Distance 16 Km; Time 6/7 hours.

Day 06. Jimilangtso – Phajoding

The dwarf rhododendron trees, the lake of Janetso, the beautiful view of mountain Gangker Phuensum, the highest mountain in Bhutan. Phajoding monasteries and Thimphu town is visible at the valley floor. Overnight at camp, Phajoding
Altitude 3,250 m; Distance 21 Km; Time 7 – 8 hours.

Day 07. Phajoding – Thimphu (End of Trek)

The trek to Thimphu is down hill through blue pine forests. Afternoon at leisure/rest. Overnight in the hotel.

Day 08. Thimphu - Paro

Visit National Memorial Chorten, the Dupthop Lhakhang one of the few surviving nunneries in Bhutan. Folk Heritage museum and handicraft emporium. In evening drive to Paro. Over night stay at Paro.

1. When and how to visit Bhutan?

Choose your traveling date like Arrival/Departure date. You also need to choose entry/depart Bhutan via AIR or LAND.

By Air: Druk Air, the national carriers is the only service operator in the kingdom and operates several flights per week from Bangkok (Thailand), Delhi & Kolkata (India) and Kathmandu (Nepal) to Paro (Bhutan). The Paro International Airport is located about an hour and a half drive from Thimphu, the capital city of Bhutan.

Paro airport is daylight restricted, and the flights are totally dependent on the weather. As a result, sometimes flights are delayed. It is therefore a good idea to keep at least 24 hours of transit time for connecting flights out of Paro. You might also want to consider traveling on a non-restricted ticket so that if you miss a connecting flight, you can be rerouted or seated on the first available carrier.

Sometimes flights into Paro are disrupted because of unfavorable weather conditions. If this occurs, the flight will stop for the night at the transit airport. To be prepared, you may want to carry your essential personal items in your carry-on luggage.

By Land: Phuentsholing, a Bhutanese town in the southwest has road access to India. It is located about 170 km from the Indian domestic airport at Bagdogra, West Bengal. Phuentsholing is about 172 km from Thimphu the capital city of Bhutan and is about 6hours drive distance. And S/

Hot stone bath (Dhotsho) is a traditional bath of Bhutan, where a tradition of heating up stones and then soaking in the water that is in turn heated by the stones. This is also a curative method and is used throughout the country We Bhutanese belief that this bath has so much of medicinal benefits. Some diseases are curable-like joint pains, hypertension, stomach disorder, arthritis and many other minor diseases. Especially for the old age, where we have lots of body pains, joints pains helps a lot by this Hot Stone Bath (Dhotsho).

I think, the minerals in the rocks have certain chemicals, which can cure certain disease of our body. Hot stone bath has no side effects. It is in its pure natural form. We can organize the hot stone bath during your stay in Bhutan.

Folk Performing Arts & Music in the Himalayan Kingdom of Bhutan
We have Cultural Program Performing groups, which they will perform like Traditional folk songs, dances and keeps original tunes and dances alive. Moreover, new choreography for some traditional and regional songs is sometimes developed.

The troupe also performs mask dances that have historical and spiritual significance.

The program will be about 1hr program and the cost will be USD 100/program. Usually we organize this in the evening before your dinner. But any time of the day can be organized.

Tiger’s Nest is most visited spot in Bhutan and it is much awaited by every tourist who visits Bhutan to climb to Tiger’s Nest.

It takes about 2 hrs 30mins up steep climb through the forest of pine, oak and Rhododendron. However you can ride the horse and climb till the Taktshang cafeteria.

The price will be approximately USD 12-15. So we can arrange the horses and let us know.

Day 01. Arrive to Paro - Thimphu.

The flight into Paro on our national carrier, Druk Air, is a befitting introduction to the spectacular beauty of our country. In clear weather, magnificent views of the world’s highest peaks like GangkarPuensum, give way to the lush green Paro valley as you land. After this we will have lunch in the Paro town. Then we will drive to Thimphu, the capital city of Bhutan. The drive will take about 1 hour and 30 minutes along a river valley, past small villages and traditional farmhouses, through peaceful countryside. It’s a small & charming capital city located in the heart of the Himalayas Then visit TashiChhoDzong, seat of the National Government and the Central Monastic Body, including the summer residence of the Je Khenpo (Chief Abbot of Bhutan). Day 02. Thimphu Stay

Sightseeing in Thimphu, visit to Memorial Chhorten, built in 1974 in the memory of third king late JigmeDorjiWangchuk, and the temple inside gives good examples of tantric Buddhist and its philosophy. Mothithangminizooto see the National Animal of Bhutan (Takin), Zulikha Nunnery,theThangtongDewachen nunnery was founded in 1976 by RikeyJadrel and today it houses the sixty nuns engaged in Buddhist study and practices. Folk Heritage Museum, this Folk Heritage Museum is a showcase, the 19-century farmhouse and the living style of the Bhutanese family. National Library, the National Library was established in 1967 to preserve many ancient Dzongkha and Tibetan texts. Lunch in Thimphu town. After lunch, visit Paper Factory, were Bhutanese Traditional Papers & paper products are made. Weaving Center produces hand-woven textiles on site and has a selection of cloth and ready-made garments for sale. This is one of the few places where you can watch weavers at work, andthen Authentic Bhutanese handicrafts. Dinner and overnight stay at Thimphu Hotel.

Day 03. Thimphu – Phobjikha

After our eraky breakfast, we will drive to Phobjikha Valley. The road climbs steeply through forests of pine, hemlock spruce and rhododendrons. At Dochula Pass (3150m) you will have a breathtaking panoramic view of the Eastern Himalayan Mountain ranges. The pass is adorned with 108 small stupas and many kinds of prayer flags. Then the road descends through lush forests to the fertile valley of Punakha&WangdiPghodrang. Again the road will slowly ascend until Lawala pass (3280m). You may spot a yaks grazing along the roadside by Lawala Pass. The road descends through semi-tropical vegetation and alpine environment, with rhododendron trees and dark green dwarf bamboo. Lunch will be served at Nobding. On reaching Gangtey, we will visit Gangtey Goenpa Lhakhang, which is one of the most important temple in Nyingmapa sect of Bhuddism especially PemaLingpa Tradition. Then we will do Gangtey Natural Hike, the easiest exiting hike in Bhutan. This hiking trail is through pine forest and open area. This is area is designated for the preservation and protection for the Black Neck Crane bird. Evening stroll around the valley.Dinner and overnight stay at Phobjikha Valley.

Day 04. Phobjikha – Bumthang

Drive to Bumthang after our breakfast. The road will slowly ascend until Pelela pass (3400m). You may spot a yaks grazing along the roadside by Pele la Pass. The road descends through semi-tropical vegetation and alpine environment, with rhododendron trees and dark green dwarf bamboo. You will stop by at ChendebjiChhorten, the chorten is patterned after Swayambhunath in Kathmandu and was built in 19th century to cover the remains of an evil spirit that was killed at this spot. As you enter Trongsa valley, the huge fortress of TrongsaDzong, the most impressive dzong in Bhutan appears on the far side of a deep valley. We will visit this dzong and also the tower of Trongsa-Religion and Power in Bhutan. The Tower of Trongsa is a museum in which aspects of Bhutanese culture and history are explained by beautifully objects, while for others it is as scared place of encounter with the gods. Lunch will be served at Trongsa. Then drive to Bumthang through the hairpin bends with the dense forest of rhododendron, conifers, alder and oak crossing Yotong La, 3425m. The road then comes out into a wide-open cultivated valley – which is the Chumey Valley, the first of Bumthnag’s four valleys. From here the road goes on straight until we see JakarDzong and then drops into bends before straightening out again in the main valley at Chamkhar. At Chhumey, we will visit to ChhumeyYathra Production Center. Yathara is a woolen textile in Bhutan. Dinner and over night stay at Bumthang.

Day 05. Bumthang Stay

Today’s day begins with visit to JambayLhakhang, which is one of the oldest temples in Bhutan, built in 7th century, KurjeyLhakhang, is named after the body print of Guru Rinpoche which is preserved in a cave inside the oldest of the three buildings, TamshingLhakhang – which was established by TertonPemaLingpa in 1501 and is the most important NyingmaGoenba in the country. Lunch in the Bumthang hotel. After lunch we will visit Mebertsho (Burning Lake) – This is a very scared lake for Bhutanese people. TertonPemaLingpa discovered several of Guru Rinpoche’s hidden religious treasures from this lake. Evening we will visit to Farmer’s House for Bhutanese Tea, Alcohol and Hot Stone Bath (Dhotsho). We can also organize over night stay in Farm House. Dinner and overnight stay at hotel, Bumthang or Farmer’s House

Day 06. Bumthang – Punakha

Drive to Punakha.Lunch on the way.Dinner and overnight stay at Punakha Hotel. On the way we will stop where ever necessary for Photo Shoot.

Day 07. Punakha – Paro

After the breakfast we will drive to Paro. Before we drive we will do sightseeing in Puankha. First we will visit to ChhimiLhakhang, the temple of fertility. The temple is located at a hilltop and we have to hike thrugh farmhouse and paddy field about 30mins from the road end. Then we will visit to the most beautiful dzongs in Bhutan, PunakhaDzong. Lunch will be served at Punakha. Then we will drive to Paro. The road will ascend up to the great Dochula Pass. On the way back to Paro offers another chance to view the amazing Himalayan ranges. Stop along the way to take photos wherever you find the best spot for the photography. Evening stroll around the Parovally town, the valley of surpassing Beauty.Dinner and over night stay at Paro hotel.

Day 08. Paro Stay

Toady we will make a hike to ParoTaktshang Monastery, the most famous and scared monastery in Buddhism world. Taksang means “TigerNest” named after Guru Rinpoche reportedly flew to this site riding on the back of a flying tigress late in the 9th century. We have to walk about 2hours up steep from the road end. The trail climbs through beautiful pine forest, many of the trees festooned with Spanish moss, and an occasional grove of fluttering prayer flags. Lunch will be served at Taktshang cafeteria. On our way back, drive to the village of Drukgyel and visit the ruins of DrukgyelDzong, built in 1649 to commemorate the victory over Tibetan invasion and KyichuLhakhang, it is one of the two most sacred and the oldest temples in Bhutan, built in 7th century by Tibetan king SongtsenGampo (the 33rd Tibetan king, who is also the manifestation of avoloketeshivara, commonly known to Bhutanese as Chenrize).

Day 01. Arrive to Paro - Paro.

On the arrival to Paro International Airport, we will directly drive to Paro Kyichu Lhakhang, the oldest temple in Bhutan, built by Tibetan King Songtshen Gaympo in 7th century. Here we will have a ceremony dedicated to the cleansing of our body, mind and soul by a monk. We will receive a white scarf (Khadar) from monk, which is a symbol of purity and brings blessings and good lucks to us. You can take back this good luck white scarf to your home. Then we will drive to the town for lunch. After our lunch, we will drive to Dzongdrakha and visit the Dzongdrakha Lhakhang. We can mediate inside all the temples, if you like to do so.
Evening stroll around the Paro town.
Dinner and over night stay in Paro.

Day 02. Paro – Thimphu

Today we will drive to Thimphu but in the morning we will hike to Taktshang Monastery (Tiger’s Nest), the most important pilgrimage site in the Buddhism world and it is the one of the main highlight of Bhutan Tour. If you wish to mediate here in the Taktshang monastery for sometime we can do so. Lunch at Taktshang Cafteria or at Paro. Drive to Thimphu, the capital city of Bhutan. On reaching Thimphu, we will visit to Buddha Point, to see and pray in front of the tallest Buddha Statue in the world, then Memorial Chhorten, where you will see old and young people making circumambulation around the Chhorten and you will also join them. . Evening visit Thimphu Trashichhoe Dzong. Stroll around the Thimphu town.

Dinner and overnight stay at Thimphu Hotel.

Day 03. Thimphu – Halt.

Today we will make a short hike to Tango Monastery. It will take about 45 mins by car till the road end at Doedhena, From here it will take about 1 hr hike up to Tango Temple. Lunch we will have a picnic lunch at the riverside on our way back. On your way back, we will visit Pangrizampa and see the Astrology. Evening we will visit to Bhutanese farmhouse for diner and hot stone bath (Traditional Bath in Bhutan). If you like to stay over night at Bhutanese Farm House, we can organize over night stay at hotel Thimphu.

Day 04. Thimphu – Punakha.

Today we will drive to Punakha over dochula pass (3150m) above sea level. The pass is adorned with 108 small stupas. On the clear days, we can see the Eastern Himalayan Mountains, including the highest mountain of Bhutan so impressively. On reaching Lobesa, we will visit Chhimi Lhakhang, which is located at a hilltop. It takes about 30minutes to reach to the temple through farm fields. The temple is known as ‘the temple of fertility’. Lunch will be served at Chhimi Lhakhang cafeteria. Then we will continue our journey to Punakha and visit the most impressive or beautiful dzong in Bhutan, Punakha dzong and visit the temples inside the dzong.
Evening at leisure.

Dinner and overnight stay at Punakha Hotel.

Day 05. Punakha - Phobjikha

Today after the breakfast at hotel or Farmhouse (if stay at farmhouse) we will drive to off beaten track of Phobjikha Valley. It is a glacial valley and is the winter home of the black-necked cranes. This valley is a designated conservation area and borders Black Mountain National Park. Lunch will be served on the way. On reaching Gangtey, visit to Gantey Goenpa Lhakhang, the most important temple in Nyingmapa sect of Buddhism in Bhutan. After this we will go Gangtey Natural Trail hike. This hike is one of the easiest hike in Bhutan through pine forest and open meadow. It offers panoramic and stunning view of the valley. Dinner and overnight stay at Phobjikha Valley Hotel or Traditional Farm Stay

Day 06. Phobjikha Stay

Unique Spiritual Experiences in Bhutan.

Early morning visit to Gangtey Shedra (monastic School) – for Morning Prayer. Back to hotel and have breakfast. Then visit Gangtey Goenpa Lhakhang. This temple is one of the most important temples in Nyingmapa Sect of Buddhism in Bhutan). Gangtey Natural Trail Hike-This is one of the easiest hike in Bhutan through pine forest and open meadow. Make time to meet the Khenpo/trulku to discuss and ask some clarification about your spiritual quest. Lunch at hotel. Free time to stroll around the valley. Evening visit again to Gangtey Shedra for Meditation Class and evening prayer. We have customs to give a small donation to the head monk or temple.

Day 07. Phobjikha – Paro.

After the breakfast at hotel, drive back to Paro. The road descents to Wangdi Valey and the road climbs steeply through forests of pine, hemlock spruce and rhododendrons. At Dochula Pass (3150m) you will have a breathtaking panoramic view of the Eastern Himalayan Mountain ranges on clear days. The pass is adorned with 108 small stupas and many kinds of prayer flags. Lunch will be served at Dochula Café or on the way. Continue the journey to Paro. On the way we will visit to Tachho Gang Lhakhang crossing over the iron chain bridge. On reaching Paro, we will stroll around Paro town, for some shopping. Dinner and overnight stay at Paro Hotel.

Day 08. Paro - Airport

After our breakfast drive to Paro International Airport for your onward flight. We wish a very safe and pleasant journey back to your country. Choose your traveling date like Arrival/Departure date. You also need to choose entry/depart Bhutan via AIR or LAND.

By Air: Druk Air, the national carriers is the only service operator in the kingdom and operates several flights per week from Bangkok (Thailand), Delhi & Kolkata (India) and Kathmandu (Nepal) to Paro (Bhutan). The Paro International Airport is located about an hour and a half drive from Thimphu, the capital city of Bhutan.

Paro airport is daylight restricted, and the flights are totally dependent on the weather. As a result, sometimes flights are delayed. It is therefore a good idea to keep at least 24 hours of transit time for connecting flights out of Paro. You might also want to consider traveling on a non-restricted ticket so that if you miss a connecting flight, you can be rerouted or seated on the first available carrier.

Sometimes flights into Paro are disrupted because of unfavorable weather conditions. If this occurs, the flight will stop for the night at the transit airport. To be prepared, you may want to carry your essential personal items in your carry-on luggage.

By Land: Phuentsholing, a Bhutanese town in the southwest has road access to India. It is located about 170 km from the Indian domestic airport at Bagdogra, West Bengal. Phuentsholing is about 172 km from Thimphu the capital city of Bhutan and is about 6hours drive distance. And S/

Hot stone bath (Dhotsho) is a traditional bath of Bhutan, where a tradition of heating up stones and then soaking in the water that is in turn heated by the stones. This is also a curative method and is used throughout the country We Bhutanese belief that this bath has so much of medicinal benefits. Some diseases are curable-like joint pains, hypertension, stomach disorder, arthritis and many other minor diseases. Especially for the old age, where we have lots of body pains, joints pains helps a lot by this Hot Stone Bath (Dhotsho).

I think, the minerals in the rocks have certain chemicals, which can cure certain disease of our body. Hot stone bath has no side effects. It is in its pure natural form. We can organize the hot stone bath during your stay in Bhutan.

Day 01. Arrive to Bhutan – Trsnafer to Thimphu

On the arrival at Paro International Airport, the representative from Authentic Bhutan Tour will warmly welcome & greet you and we will drive to Thimphu, the capital city of Bhutan. The drive will take about 1 hour and 30 minutes along a river valley, past small villages and traditional farmhouses, through the sound of peaceful river flowing of Paa-chu and Thim-chu. It’s a small & charming capital city located in the heart of the Himalayas. On reaching at Thimphu, we can have lunch in one of the restaurants. After lunch, visit Memorial Chorten, built in 1974 in the memory of third king Jigme Dorji Wangchuk and the temple inside gives good examples of tantric Buddhist and its philosophy. Big Buddha Point is a gigantic Shakyamuni Buddha statue the mountains of Thimphu valley. The Buddha Dordenma is sited amidst the ruins of KuenselPhodrang, the palace of SherabWangchuck, the thirteenth DrukDesi. Upon completion, it will be one of the largest Buddha in the world, at a height of 169 feet (51.5 meters). Evening, stroll around Thimphu city, and then visit TashichhoDzong, seat of the National Government and the Central Monastic Body, including the summer residence of the Je Khenpo (Chief Abbot of Bhutan). Day 02. Thimphu Stay

After having breakfast, visit to Paper Factory, the Bhutanese Desho paper factory in Bhutan, weaving center, the hand woven clothes. Then, visit to Changgangkha temple, founded in 12th century by great Lama PhajoDrukgomZhipo and visit to Drupthop nunnery, the place which was founded in 15th century and later built in the year 1976 by RekiJigdrel. Lunch will be serving in one of the restaurants in Thimphu. After having lunch, drive to Mothithang mini-zoo to see the National Animal of Bhutan(Takin).  The Takin(BudorcasTaxicolor) as a National Animal of Bhutan is attributed to a legend of the animal’s creation in Bhutan in the 15th century by Lama DrukpaKunley.Then hike toSangaygang Cross hike, the hike will take around 1 hour and 30 minutes through the beautiful pine forest. Day 03. Thimphu -Punakha/Wangdi

After having breakfast, we will drive to Wangdi/Punakha, over Dochula Pass which is having the 3150m above the sea level. While reaching at Dochula, if the weather is clear you can see the Himalayan Mountains of Bhutan including the highest mountain of Bhutan, the Gankar Puensum (7554m), which is the unclimbed mountain in Bhutan. The drive will take around 3hours and 30minutes and lunch will be serving on the way to Wangdi. On reaching at Lobesa, hike to Chimme Lhakhang, which was founded in 15th century by Devin madman Drukpa Kuenley. The hike will take around 1hour and 30minutes for too and forth. Then, we will continue our journey to Punakha, on reaching at Punakha, visit to Punakha Dzong, the seat of the administrative system and the Central Monastic Body, including the winter residence of the Je Khenpo (Chief Abbot of Bhutan). Day 04. Wangdi/Punakha - Paro

After having breakfast, we will drive back to Paro over Dochula passes, which is having 3150m above the sea level. While reaching at Dochula, if the weather is clear you can see the Himalayan Mountains of Bhutan including the highest mountain of Bhutan, the Gankar Puensum (7554m), which is the unclimbed mountain in Bhutan. The drive will take around 4hours to reach at Paro and lunch will be on the way to Paro. On reaching at Paro, visit to Paro Rimpung Dzongthe center of civil and religious authority in this region. The original structure was built in the year 1646 by the great unifier of Bhutan Zhabdrung Ngawang Namgye.Evening stroll around Paro town. Dinner and overnight stay at Paro Hotel.

Day 05. Paro Halt

Today after having breakfast, we will make a hike to Paro Taktshang Monastery, the most famous and sacred monastery in Bhutan. Taktshang means “TigerNest” named after Guru Rinpoche reportedly flew to this site riding on the back of a flying tigress in the 8th century. We have to walk about 2hours and 30minutes up steep from the road end. The trail climbs through beautiful pine forest, many of the trees festooned with Spanish moss, and an occasional grove of fluttering prayer flags. Lunch will be served at Taktshang cafeteria. While coming back, visit to Kyichu Temple, it is one of the two most sacred and the oldest temples in Bhutan, built in 7th century by Tibetan king Songtsen Gampo (the 33rd Tibetan king, who is also the manifestation of avoloketeshivara, commonly known to Bhutanese as Chenrize).

Hot stone bath (Dhotsho) is a traditional bath of Bhutan, where a tradition of heating up stones and then soaking in the water that is in turn heated by the stones. This is also a curative method and is used throughout the country We Bhutanese belief that this bath has so much of medicinal benefits. Some diseases are curable-like joint pains, hypertension, stomach disorder, arthritis and many other minor diseases. Especially for the old age, where we have lots of body pains, joints pains helps a lot by this Hot Stone Bath (Dhotsho).

I think, the minerals in the rocks have certain chemicals, which can cure certain disease of our body. Hot stone bath has no side effects. It is in its pure natural form. We can organize the hot stone bath during your stay in Bhutan.

The cost for experiencing this will be USD 20 per person.

Folk Performing Arts & Music in the Himalayan Kingdom of Bhutan
We have Cultural Program Performing groups, which they will perform like Traditional folk songs, dances and keeps original tunes and dances alive. Moreover, new choreography for some traditional and regional songs is sometimes developed.

The troupe also performs mask dances that have historical and spiritual significance.

The program will be about 1hr program and the cost will be USD 100/program. Usually we organize this in the evening before your dinner. But any time of the day can be organized.

Tiger’s Nest is most visited spot in Bhutan and it is much awaited by every tourist who visits Bhutan to climb to Tiger’s Nest.

It takes about 2 hrs 30mins up steep climb through the forest of pine, oak and Rhododendron. However you can ride the horse and climb till the Taktshang cafeteria.

The price will be approximately USD 12-15. So we can arrange the horses and let us know.

Zhemgang Dzong

Zhemgang District

Zhemgang Dzong is undoubtedly the most important and the oldest religious structure in the district. It was founded by, Lama Zhang in 1163 AD, a fact from which the district now derives its name, Zhemgang, which is a corruption of Zhanggang or Lama Zhang’s Hill.

It was founded by Lama Zhang Dorje Drakpa who came to Bhutan from Tibet in the 12th century. Lama Zhang is considered the greatest Buddhist saint to settle at present day Zhemgang. In 1655, where he had built a hermitage, a small dzong was constructed to symbolize the unification of the three Kheng divisions.

The Dzong has six Lhakhangs viz. Goenkhang, Lamai goenkhang, Naib Lhakhang, Guru Lhankhang, Mithrub Lhakhang and Kuenrey Lhakhang. The most sacred is the Goenkhang, which is believed to have been built by Lam Zhang himself. The Naib Lhakhang is dedicated to the Dzong’s deity, Dorji Rabten, who was brought under control and appointed to safeguard the Dzong by Lam Zhang.
