The following documents are needed to obtain the filming permit from Bhutan InfoComm and Media Authority. The documents must reach to our office at least a month prior to your visit to Bhutan.

  Certification from the company (To Whom It May Concern) or a letter of recommendation/endorsements from sponsoring agency/company, if any.

  Personal CV of filming crew & their passport copy.

  Company Profile.

  Synopsis/treatment of the propose film stating the background (purpose), the objectives, the theme of the film.

  List of equipment, accessories and consumables required to be imported into Bhutan.

  Dully filled the Film Permit Clearance Application Form.

 Filming Royalty as per the below have to be paid on top of the tourist tariff.

 Filming Royalty – US$ 3,000.

 Filming Security Deposit– US$ 2,000.

This security deposit will be refunded upon completion of the film to the satisfaction of the Bhutan InfoComm & Media Authority. We have to submit the copy of edited version of the film for the BICMA’s review and approval prior to your screening to your audience.

Traditional Wedding Ceremony

Day 01. Arrival to Bhutan – Transfer to Thimphu, the capital city

The flight into Paro on our national carrier, Druk Air, is a befitting introduction to the spectacular beauty of our country. In clear weather, magnificent views of the world’s highest peaks like Gangkar Puensum, give way to the lush green Paro valley as you land. After this we will have lunch in Paro town. Then we will drive to Thimphu, the capital city of Bhutan. The drive will take about 1 hour and 30 minutes along the river valley, pass small villages and traditional farmhouses, through peaceful countryside. It’s a small & charming capital city located in the heart of the Himalayas. On reaching Thimphu, we will do a short hike, (Sangaygang Cross Country) Wangditse Hike. The hike starts from BBS tower till Dechenphodrang, through pine forest. From this hike we can see the Thimphu town (Capital City) beautifully. The hike will take about 1hour 30minutes.

Day 02. Thimphu Stay

Sightseeing in Thimphu, visit to Memorial Chhorten, built in 1974 in the memory of third king late Jigme Dorji Wangchuk, and the temple inside gives good examples of tantric Buddhist and its philosophy.

Mothithang minizoo to see the National Animal of Bhutan (Takin), Zulikha Nunnery, the Thangtong Dewachen nunnery was founded in 1976 by Rikey Jadrel and today it houses the sixty nuns engaged in Buddhist study and practices.

Folk Heritage Museum, this Folk Heritage Museum is a showcase, the 19-century farmhouse and the living style of the Bhutanese family.

National Library, the National Library was established in 1967 to preserve many ancient Dzongkha and Tibetan texts. Lunch in Thimphu town.

After lunch, visit Paper Factory, were Bhutanese Traditional Papers & paper products are made. Weaving Center produces hand-woven textiles on site and has a selection of cloth and ready-made garments for sale. This is one of the few places where you can watch weavers at work, and then Authentic Bhutanese handicrafts.

Evening we will visit Bhutanese Farm House for dinner and Traditional Hot Stone bath. Over night stay at Thimphu Hotel or we can organize even in Bhutanese Farm House.

Day 03. Thimphu Stay (Traditional Bhutanese Wedding Day)

Today we will visit the Bhutanese house or temple decided for the wedding and the day will begin with the Lhabsang Ceremony, to please the local deities. We will offer butter lamps, is an offering of light to deities and is one of the most common means of increasing merits. Then we will have Thrisor ceremony, the rites of purification and cleansing. This rite will clear our bodies, speech and minds of all our sins.

After this, we will have Tsepamey Choko, is an elaborate ritual ceremony for a long and prosperous married life. The head monk will bless you in the course of the ritual for the same. This ritual is performed in honor of Tsepamey, the God of longevity. And there will be exchange of ring between bride and bridegroom, which will bind one another with love and friendship forever.

Today’s ceremony will conclude with the presentation of the Dhar Naynga, the symbolic five colored scarves. The offering of the scarves wishes the bride and the groom a long and prosperous life.

Day 04. Thimphu – Punakha (Day Excursion).

After our breakfast, we will drive to Punakha/Wangdi. The road climbs steeply through forests of pine, hemlock spruce and rhododendrons. At Dochula Pass (3150m) you will have a breathtaking panoramic view of the Eastern Himalayan Mountain ranges. The pass is adorned with 108 small stupas and many kinds of prayer flags. Then the road descends through lush forests to the fertile valley of Punakha & Wangdi Phodrang.

On reaching Lobesa, we will visit Chhimi Lhakhang, which is located at a hilltop. The temple is known as ‘the temple of fertility’. At Punakha, visit the most beautiful dzongs in Bhutan, Punakha Dzong. Then we will have lunch and after lunch we drive back to Thimphu. Evening stroll around Thimphu town.

After lunch, we will see the illuminating places like the Dzong, Chhorten and others for your photographs. We can also enjoy the night life with locals if it is not on Tuesdays. Over night stay at hotel Thimphu. Hotel Pedling or similar standard.

Day 05. Thimphu – Paro

Today we will drive to Paro and hike to Paro Taktshang Monastery, the most famous and sacred monastery in Bhutan. Taktshang means “Tiger’s Nest” named after Guru Rinpoche who reportedly flew to this site riding on the back of a flying tigress in the 8th century.

We have to walk about 2hours and 30minutes up-steep from the road end. The trail climbs through beautiful pine forest, many of the trees festooned with Spanish moss, and an occasional grove of fluttering prayer flags. Lunch will be served at Taktshang cafeteria. While coming back, visit Kyichu Lhakhang, it is one of the two most sacred and the oldest temples in Bhutan, built in 7th century by Tibetan king Songtsen Gampo (the 33rd Tibetan king, who is also the manifestation of Avalokiteshvara, commonly known to Bhutanese as Chenrize).

Evening at leisure, dinner and overnight stay at Paro Hotel. Olathang Hotel or similar standard.

Day 06. Paro – Paro International Airport.

After our breakfast, we will drive to Paro International Airport for your onward flight. Our guide and driver will bid you farewell here at the airport. We wish you a very safe and pleasant flight for your onward destinations.

1. When and how to visit Bhutan?

Choose your traveling date like Arrival/Departure date. You also need to choose entry/depart Bhutan via AIR or LAND.

By Air: Druk Air, the national carriers is the only service operator in the kingdom and operates several flights per week from Bangkok (Thailand), Delhi & Kolkata (India) and Kathmandu (Nepal) to Paro (Bhutan). The Paro International Airport is located about an hour and a half drive from Thimphu, the capital city of Bhutan.

Paro airport is daylight restricted, and the flights are totally dependent on the weather. As a result, sometimes flights are delayed. It is therefore a good idea to keep at least 24 hours of transit time for connecting flights out of Paro. You might also want to consider traveling on a non-restricted ticket so that if you miss a connecting flight, you can be rerouted or seated on the first available carrier.

Sometimes flights into Paro are disrupted because of unfavorable weather conditions. If this occurs, the flight will stop for the night at the transit airport. To be prepared, you may want to carry your essential personal items in your carry-on luggage.

By Land: Phuentsholing, a Bhutanese town in the southwest has road access to India. It is located about 170 km from the Indian domestic airport at Bagdogra, West Bengal. Phuentsholing is about 172 km from Thimphu the capital city of Bhutan and is about 6hours drive distance. And S/

For most tours the booking must be completed 8 weeks in advance, but during the festivals booking must be completed at least 12 weeks in advance. Hot stone bath (Dhotsho) is a traditional bath of Bhutan, where a tradition of heating up stones and then soaking in the water that is in turn heated by the stones. This is also a curative method and is used throughout the country We Bhutanese belief that this bath has so much of medicinal benefits. Some diseases are curable-like joint pains, hypertension, stomach disorder, arthritis and many other minor diseases. Especially for the old age, where we have lots of body pains, joints pains helps a lot by this Hot Stone Bath (Dhotsho).

Folk Performing Arts & Music in the Himalayan Kingdom of Bhutan
We have Cultural Program Performing groups, which they will perform like Traditional folk songs, dances and keeps original tunes and dances alive. Moreover, new choreography for some traditional and regional songs is sometimes developed.

The troupe also performs mask dances that have historical and spiritual significance.

After lunch we will drive back to Thimphu and visit to Memorial Chhorten, Changangkha Lhakhang, Nunnery and stroll around Thimphu town. Dinner and over night stay at hotel Thimphu.

Day 03. Thimphu – Punakha/wangdi

Today we will drive to Trongsa over Pelela (3425m). Lunch will be served on the way. At Chendebji Chhorten we will stop for while and appreciate the Mother Nature and sit here for a while and contemplate on your mind. Then we will continue our journey to Trongsa. On reaching Trongsa, we will visit to the Tower of Trongsa. Dinner and over night stay at Trongsa Hotel.

Day 05. Trongsa – Bumthang.

Today after breakfast, we will drive to Bumthang over Yontongla (3400m)We will stop at Chhumey Yathra production center and then continue our journey to Bumthang. Lunch will be served at Bumthang.

After lunch we will do sightseeing in Bumthang like visit to Jampay Lhakhang, Kurjey Lhakhang and Tamshing Lhakhang.

Evening we will visit to Kharchhu Dratshang and meet with one of the Khenpo there and get some teaching of Buddhism or we will invite to hotel during the dinner time and then discuss about Mediation, retreat and basic Buddhism.

Day 06. Bumthang Stay

We will visit to Kharchu Dratshang and mediate here until lunchtime. After lunch is a leisure day or you can continue with your religious activities. Evening again meet with the Khenpo and ask your questions and doubts about Buddhsim. Dinner with Khenpo and overnight stay at Bumthang Hotel.

Day 07. Bumthang – Phobjikha.

After our breakfast, we will drive to Phobjikha Valley. Luch will be served on the way. On reaching Gangtey and we will visit Gangtey Goenpa Lhakhang and sit inside the monastery for about 30mins and do mediation. After this we will do the Gangtey Natural Hike and sit at the view point of the valley and contemplate on your mind. Evening at leisure. Dinner and overnight stay at hotel Phojikha valley.

Day 08. Phobjikha – Paro

We will drive to Paro. Lunch will be served at Dochula café. After lunch continue the journey. Evening stroll around the Paro town. Dinner and over night stay at hotel paro.

Day 09. Paro Stay

Today after early breakfast at hotel, we will hike to Paro Taktshanf Monastery , the most famous and scared monastery in Buddhism world. Black Neck Carne Festival Tour

The black-necked crane festival is held every year in Phobjikha on 11 November. The festival was initiated by the Royal Society for Protection of Nature (RSPN) in 1998 as apart of community

based-sustainable tourism, where appreciation and corresponding payment by visitors and tourist is will serve as an incentive for strong Environmental and cultural heritage of the valley. The objectives of the festival are to:

  Fosters awareness and understanding among the local communities and visitors on the importance of the endangered Black-necked cranes.

  Institute economic incentives (Payment) for the festival to strengthen the linkage between conservation and economic welfare.

  Provide avenue for the local community to renew their commitment to conservation of the cranes and to showcase their cultural heritage and skills.

Day 01. Nov 06. Arrive to Paro International Airport – Transfer to Hotel

Arrive at Paro and receive by the representative of Authentic Bhutan Tours at the Paro International airport, only airport in the Himalayan Kingdom of Bhutan. From here directly we will visit National museum of Bhutan, if it is not closed. Lunch in Paro. After lunch we will visit Paro dzong (fortress) and then stroll around Paro town. Dinner and overnight stay at hotel Paro.

Day 02. November 07. Paro – Thimphu

Very early in the morning we will drive to Chelela pass with your pack breakfast. The pass is the highest pass, where the car can go in Bhutan. On the way we may see the following birds:

 Grosbreaks
 Bullfinches
 Cutia

Besides see these birds we can also see the Mountain Jhomolhari & Jichu Drakye beautifully on clear days from the pass. There are lots of prayer flags here at the pass. We will have our breakfast here, near the pass. After enjoying the sight of birds, prayer flags and mountains on clear days, then we will drive back to Paro, to our hotel. We will take rest in the hotel for about 1hour and then we will hike to Taktshang, Tiger’s Nest till the viewpoint.

We will have lunch here at the viewpoint, Taktshang cafeteria. Walk back to the car point and then we will drive to Thimphu, the capital city of Bhutan. The drive will take about 1hour 30minutes from the road point. Evening stroll around the Thimphu town and explore handicraft shops for Authentic Bhutanese Souvenirs and gifts for your friends and loved ones. Dinner and overnight stay at hotel, Thimphu.

Day 03. November 08. Thimphu Halt.

We will hike to Cheri Monastery and during the hike we may spot the following birds:

Day 04: November 09. Thimphu – Punakha

Drive to Punakha over dochula pass (3150m). stop for a while at the pass for a breath taking of eastern Himalayan Mountain Ranges on a clear days and also to see the 108 small chhortens (stupas). The following birds species can be found on our way to Punakha.

The hike will take about 25minutes from the road end through the farm fields. Then we will drive to Punakha and visit the magnificent Punakha Dzong. Dinner and overnight stay at Punakha, Hotel.

Day 5. November 10. (Punakha – Phobjikha)

After the breakfast, we will drive to Kabesa and hike to Khamsumyule Namgyel chhorten, then drive to Phobjikha. On reaching Wangdue we will visit Wangdue dzong. Lunch at Wangdue. After lunch continue our journey to Phobjikha.Evening stroll around the Phobjikha valley. Dinner and over night stay at Phobjikha.

Day 6. November 11. (Phobjikha Halt)

Witness and enjoy the Black-necked Crane festival whole day. Dinner and over night stay at Phobjikha.

Day 7. November 13. (Phobjikha – Paro)

Drive to Paro. The drive will take about 6 hours 30 minutes. Lunch at Dochula Cafteria. Continue the journey to Paro. On reaching Paro, stroll around the Paro twon and do the last shopping and then check in the hotel. Dinner and over night stay in Paro hotel.

Day 8. Paro – Paro International Airport.

By Air: Druk Air, the national carriers is the only service operator in the kingdom and operates several flights per week from Bangkok (Thailand), Delhi & Kolkata (India) and Kathmandu (Nepal) to Paro (Bhutan). The Paro International Airport is located about an hour and a half drive from Thimphu, the capital city of Bhutan.

Paro airport is daylight restricted, and the flights are totally dependent on the weather. As a result, sometimes flights are delayed. It is therefore a good idea to keep at least 24 hours of transit time for connecting flights out of Paro. You might also want to consider traveling on a non-restricted ticket so that if you miss a connecting flight, you can be rerouted or seated on the first available carrier.

Sometimes flights into Paro are disrupted because of unfavorable weather conditions. If this occurs, the flight will stop for the night at the transit airport. To be prepared, you may want to carry your essential personal items in your carry-on luggage.

By Land: Phuentsholing, a Bhutanese town in the southwest has road access to India. It is located about 170 km from the Indian domestic airport at Bagdogra, West Bengal. Phuentsholing is about 172 km from Thimphu the capital city of Bhutan and is about 6hours drive distance. And S/

Day 09: Trongsa-Bumthang

Drive to Bumthang. The drive will take about 2hours. Today we will find the following birds:

For most tours the booking must be completed 8 weeks in advance, but during the festivals booking must be completed at least 12 weeks in advance. Especially during the festivals, it can be very difficult to get the accommodation and flight seats without advance bookings, as it is a peak season for the tourist visiting Bhutan.

Hot stone bath (Dhotsho) is a traditional bath of Bhutan, where a tradition of heating up stones and then soaking in the water that is in turn heated by the stones. This is also a curative method and is used throughout the country We Bhutanese belief that this bath has so much of medicinal benefits. Some diseases are curable-like joint pains, hypertension, stomach disorder, arthritis and many other minor diseases. Especially for the old age, where we have lots of body pains, joints pains helps a lot by this Hot Stone Bath (Dhotsho).

I think, the minerals in the rocks have certain chemicals, which can cure certain disease of our body. Hot stone bath has no side effects. It is in its pure natural form. We can organize the hot stone bath during your stay in Bhutan.

The Bhutanese textiles are rich, vibrant, and colorful and are a complex art form as well as an integral part of the Bhutanese culture. This Bhutan weaving experiences will give you an insight about the rich textiles in Bhutan. You can sit one of the handlooms of Bhutan and weave your self practically. We promise that you will really enjoy this with great satisfaction in your life.

We will also see or learn the natural coloring and dyeing. You can bring your own materials like handkerchief to dye and color. So visit Bhutan and experience it practically by yourself.

Folk Performing Arts & Music in the Himalayan Kingdom of Bhutan
We have Cultural Program Performing groups, which they will perform like Traditional folk songs, dances and keeps original tunes and dances alive. Moreover, new choreography for some traditional and regional songs is sometimes developed.

The troupe also performs mask dances that have historical and spiritual significance.

The program will be about 1hr program and the cost will be USD 100/program. Usually we organize this in the evening before your dinner. But any time of the day can be organized.

Tiger’s Nest is most visited spot in Bhutan and it is much awaited by every tourist who visits Bhutan to climb to Tiger’s Nest.

It takes about 2 hrs 30mins up steep climb through the forest of pine, oak and Rhododendron. However you can ride the horse and climb till the Taktshang cafeteria.

The price will be approximately USD 12-15. So we can arrange the horses and let us know.
