Day 1. Arrive to Paro International Airport.

On arrival, receive by the representative of Authentic Bhutan Tours. Then drive to Thimphu, the capital City of Bhutan. The drive will take about 1hr 15minutes. On reaching Thimphu, your lunch will be served at one of the restaurant in Thimphu.

PM: we will do some sightseeing in Thimphu like visit to Memorial Chhorten, Motithang Mini-zoo, to see the National Animal of Bhutan, Takin and the Nunnery or Drupthop Lhakhang. Then stroll around the Thimphu town. In the evening, we will visit Thimphu Trashi Chhoe Dzong. Dinner and over night stay at Thimphu Hotel.

Day 2. Thimphu – Punakha (day Excursion)

Today we will take a day excursion to Punakha via Dochula pass (3150m). The pass is adorned with 108 small stupas and many kinds of prayer flags. From the pass, we can see the Eastern Himalayan Mountain Ranges so beautifully on clear days.

Continue our journey to Puanakha and on reaching Punakha, we will visit the most beautiful dzongs in Bhutan, Punakha Dzong and at Lobesa, we will hike to Chhimi Lhakhang, the temple of fertility, which is located on a hilltop. The hike will take about 30minutes from the road end through paddy fields and farmhouses. Then we will have lunch at Lobesa.

PM: We will drive back to Thimphu. On reaching Thimphu, we will stroll around Thimohu town. Dinner and overnight stay at Thimphu Hotel

Day 3. Thimphu – Paro – Bumdra (Trek)

After an early breakfast, we will drive to Paro, Sang Choekor, where our trekking crewmembers will be waiting for us. Our trek will start from here to Bumdra. Bumdra, which is blessed by 100,000 dakinies. Little above the place, we can also see a rock which is suppose to be Guru Rinpoche’s Hat and underneath the Hat, there is room where we can mediate and get the blessings from Guru Rinpoche.

At Sang Chhoekhor, we can also visit Sang Chhoekhor Lhakhang, which is a Buddhist College. The trek to Bumdra for about first 1-2hrs walk will be ascent of a shady, forested ridge, brings us to a clearing with prayer flags and views down into both the Paro and Do Chhu Valleys.

Above and ahead the Chhoe Tse Lhakhang (temple) nestles on the mountainside a further one to two hour’s walk away. The trail undulates before the last steep section up to the pretty temple, which offers commanding views south over Paro and northwards to the snowcapped Himalayas.

After a final 20-minute climb through ruins and fluttering prayer flags, we plunge back into ancient forest, and, after traversing for about 40 minutes, we come out onto a high wide meadow dotted with sacred chortens and prayer flags.

Our home for the night is tucked away just under Bumdra Monastery (Cave of a Hundred Thousand Prayers) and offers unimpeded views of the Himalayan range. After lunch we can visit the monastery and mediate there for whole afternoon.

Dinner and over night stay at Bumdra camp (3800m)

Day 04. Bumdra – Taktshang – Paro

After our breakfast, we will start our trek to Paro via Taktshang Monastery. After one to two hours of descent we catch glimpses of the golden roofs of temples below. The path snakes across the mountainside between these monasteries before reaching the gardens of Sangtopelri (Heaven on Earth) from which you can bravely peer the over edge and straight down onto the ornate rooftops of Taktsang Monastery perched against the cliff-face far below. An hour later and we are at the gates of Taktsang looking across the gorge; a steep descent to a waterfall then up some steps and we are passing into Tiger’s Nest itself.

Lunch will be served as picnic hot lunch. Retracing our steps we begin the final descent of about 1hr to reach our vehicle and drive back to Paro.

Dinner and over night stay at Paro Hotel.

Day 05. Paro – Airport (Departure)

Drive to Paro International Airport for your ownward flight. We wish you a very safe and comfortable flight. Our guides and driver will bid you farewell here at the Airport. We will be looking forward to see you again in Bhutan- The Land of Happiness!

1. When and how to visit Bhutan?

Choose your traveling date like Arrival/Departure date. You also need to choose entry/depart Bhutan via AIR or LAND.

By Air: Druk Air, the national carriers is the only service operator in the kingdom and operates several flights per week from Bangkok (Thailand), Delhi & Kolkata (India) and Kathmandu (Nepal) to Paro (Bhutan). The Paro International Airport is located about an hour and a half drive from Thimphu, the capital city of Bhutan.

Paro airport is daylight restricted, and the flights are totally dependent on the weather. As a result, sometimes flights are delayed. It is therefore a good idea to keep at least 24 hours of transit time for connecting flights out of Paro. You might also want to consider traveling on a non-restricted ticket so that if you miss a connecting flight, you can be rerouted or seated on the first available carrier.

Sometimes flights into Paro are disrupted because of unfavorable weather conditions. If this occurs, the flight will stop for the night at the transit airport. To be prepared, you may want to carry your essential personal items in your carry-on luggage.

By Land: Phuentsholing, a Bhutanese town in the southwest has road access to India. It is located about 170 km from the Indian domestic airport at Bagdogra, West Bengal. Phuentsholing is about 172 km from Thimphu the capital city of Bhutan and is about 6hours drive distance. And S/

Hot stone bath (Dhotsho) is a traditional bath of Bhutan, where a tradition of heating up stones and then soaking in the water that is in turn heated by the stones. Some diseases are curable-like joint pains, hypertension, stomach disorder, arthritis and many other minor diseases. Especially for the old age, where we have lots of body pains, joints pains helps a lot by this Hot Stone Bath (Dhotsho).

The troupe also performs mask dances that have historical and spiritual significance.

Tiger’s Nest is most visited spot in Bhutan and it is much awaited by every tourist who visits Bhutan to climb to Tiger’s Nest.

It takes about 2 hrs 30mins up steep climb through the forest of pine, oak and Rhododendron. However you can ride the horse and climb till the Taktshang cafeteria.

The price will be approximately USD 12-15. So we can arrange the horses and let us know.

Day 01. Arrive to Paro (Bhutan)

The flight into Paro on our national carrier, Druk Air, is a befitting introduction to the spectacular beauty of our country. In clear weather, magnificent views of the world’s highest peaks like Gangkar Puensum, give way to the lush green Paro valley as you land. Day 02. Paro – Jeledzong (Trek Starts)

Today our 3nights/4 days trek will start. After our breakfast, we will drive to Paro National Museum and meet our trekking crew members and before we start our trek, we will visit Paro National Museum. Our trek starts from here near National Museum. On clear days, the snow-capped mountains can be seen. The camp site- near old JeleDzong.

 Accommodation: Camping  Camp Site: Old JeleDzong  Altitude: 3,350 m.  Distance: 10 Km.  Time: 3 – 4 hours.

Day 03. Jeledzong – Tshaluna

The days trail will be all the way downhill till you reach Tshaluna. Trail leads through the ancient trail through rhododendron forest. The trail takes you through thick alpine forest. The day’s camp will be at Tsheluna.

 Accommodation: Camping  Camp Site: Tsheluna  Altitude: 2,250m  Distance: 10 Km.  Time: 4 – 5 hours.

Day 04. Tshaluna – Phajoding

The trail leads to climb up. The view of the valleys can be seen. The climb will take you till Pumla where lunch will be served at the Pumla monastery. After lunch the trail leads towards Phajoding and on clear days the views of “Gangkhar Puensum” 7554 meters, the highest mountain in Bhutan can be seen. Camp at Phajoding.

 Accommodation: Camping  Camp Site: Phajoding  Altitude: 3,250 m  Distance: 12 Km  Time: 4-5 hour

Day 05. Phajoding - Thimphu

The trek to Thimphu is downhill through blue pine forests. Lunch will be served at Thimphu. Afternoon at Thimphu City tour – Visit to Nunnery, Memorial Chhorten, Handicraft Emporiums & Thimphu town & Tashichho Dzong.

DAY 02. PARO-THIMPHU

After the breakfast, hike to the view point of Taktshang (Tiger’s Nest) monastery. We have to walk about 1hours & 30minutes up steep from the road end. The trail climbs through beautiful pine forest, many of the trees festooned with Spanish moss, and an occasional grove of fluttering prayer flags. After enjoying the view & photographs, and refreshment at the viewpoint (Taktshang Cafeteria) we will walk back. Lunch will be served in the town. After lunch we will drive to Thimphu, the capital city of Bhutan. The drive will take about 1hour and 30minutes. Evening at leisure.

DAY 03. THIMPHU HALT

The day begins with a visit to the National Memorial Chorten built in honour of our late King Jigme Dorji Wangchuck and the Drupthop Lhakhang one of the few surviving nunneries in Bhutan. We then drive to the view point of Tashichho Dzong, seat of the national government and the Central Monastic Body, including the summer residence of the Je Khenpo (Chief Abbot of Bhutan), for your photograph and Folk Heritage museum.

Lunch will be served in the town. After lunch we will be visiting the Painting School where traditional art is still kept alive and finally visit the Handicrafts Emporium and shopping for souvenirs in the shops of Thimphu. Evening at leisure. Diner and overnight stay at hotel, Thimphu.

DAY 04. THIMPHU – WANGDUE/Punakha

After the breakfast, we will drive to Wangdue via Punakha. The drive will take about 3hours. At Dochula pass (3150m) we can see the eastern Himalayan Mountain ranges on the clear days. The view is so great and spectacular. Then the road will descend to 1300m above sea level, Wangduephodrang valley. The vegetation is made up of rhododendron, magnolia bloom in early spring and through the subtropical forest. At Punakha visit Punakha Dzong, it was the winter capital of Bhutan until 1955 when the capital was permanently shifted to Thimphu. It still served as the winter resident for the monk body. Lunch at Punakha.

After lunch we will drive to Wangdue. On the way we will visit Chhimi Lhakhang, which is located at a hilltop. We have to walk about 25minutes from the road point. This temple is also known as temple of fertility. Dinner and over night stay at hotel, Wangdue/Punakha.

DAY 05. PUNAKHA – GANGTAY

After breakfast, we will drive to Gangtay, Phobjikha. But before we proceed, we will visit Wangdue Dzong, was founded by the Lama Zhamdrung in 1638. The drive will take about 3hours.

Lunch will be at Gangtay. After lunch we will stroll around the Phobjikha valley, it is a glacial valley and is the winter home of the black necked cranes. This valley is a designated conservation area and borders Black Mountain National Park. Dinner and overnight stay at hotel, Phobjikha.

DAY 06. GANGTAY – BUMTHANG

After the breakfast, we will drive to Bumthang. The drive will take about 4 hours. On reaching Trongsa we will visit the Trongsa Dzong-It is the most impressive Dzong in the country. It shows one of the most artistic and magnificent works of traditional Bhutanese architecture.

Lunch we will have at Trongsa. After lunch we will continue our journey to Bumthang, through the Yutongla pass (3400m) At Chhumey, we will visit ‘Tower of Trongsa’- which is a museum now. Dinner and overnight stay at Bumthang.

DAY 07. BUMTHANG HALT

Today’s day begins with visit to Jambay Lhakhang, which is one of the oldest temples in Bhutan, built in 7th century, Kurjey Lhakhang, is named after the body print of Guru Rinpoche which is preserved in a cave inside the oldest of the three buildings, Tamshing Lhakhang – which was established by Terton Pema Lingpa in 1501 and is the most important Nyingma Goenba in the country. Lunch in the Bumthang hotel.

After lunch we will visit Jakar Dzong, castle of the white bird, Mebertsho (Burning Lake) – This is a very scared lake for Bhutanese people. Terton Pema Lingpa discovered several of Guru Rinpoche’s hidden religious treasures from this lake. Evening at leisure. Dinner and overnight stay at hotel, Bumthang.

DAY 08. BUMTHANG – MONGAR

After our breakfast, we will drive to Mongar, over Thrumshingla pass (3800m). The drive will take about 7hours.On the clear days we will the white summit of the highest peak in Bhutan, Gangkar Puensum at 7545m. Today we will drive through the forest of rhododendron, conifer and the forest of semi-tropical and subtropical. The Mongar marks the beginning of our eastern Bhutan experience. The towns in eastern Bhutan are built on the sides of the hills, in contrast to western Bhutan where the towns develop on the valley floor.

DAY 09. MONGAR – TRASHIGANG

After visiting Mongar Dzong we will drive to Trashigang. The drive will take about 4hours. Today we will drive through the leafy forest with ferns and the Korila Pass (2333m). We will also pass through the scattered villages and cornfields and banana groves and the eight zigzags of Yadi.

Lunch will be served at hotel Trashigang. After lunch we will be visiting the Trashigang Dzong, and stroll around the Trashigang town. Dinner and overnight stay in hotel, Trashigang.

DAY 10 TRASHIGANG – TRASHI YANGTSHI (DAY EXCURSION)

We will make a day excursion to Trashi Yangtshi. The drive to Trashi Yangtshi will take about 1hour 30minutes. At Gomphu Kora, we will visit Gomphu Kora Lhakhang, a sacred meditation site of Guru Rinpoche and then continue the journey to Trashi Yangtshi.

On reaching Trashi Yangtshi, we will visit Chorten Kora, is one of the stupa with styles similar to those found in Nepal. We will have picnic lunch here. After lunch we will stroll around the Trashi Yangtshi town and drive back to Trashigang. Dinner and overnight stay in hotel, Trashigang.

DAY 11. TRASHIGANG – RADHI (DAY EXCURSION)

Today we will make another day excursion to Radhi village, which is famous for textile especially the raw silk. In winter we can see young and old women weaving the textiles. At Radhi we will visit the Radhi Lhakhang and we can the villages in harmony with the nature.

Lunch we will have picnic pack lunch. After lunch we will drive back to Trashigang.

DAY 12. TRASHIGANG – SAMDRUPJONGKHAR

After our breakfast, we will drive to Samdrup Jongkhar. The drive will take about 6hours and 30minutes. On reaching Khaling, we will visit the Khaling handloom, where young women are weaving and keeping our textile in alive in this modern world. Then we will continue the journey to Samdrup Jongkhar through the thick forest and scattered villages of the east. Lunch we will have at local restaurant or pack lunch. Dinner and overnight stay in hotel, Samdrup Jongkhar.

DAY 13. SAMDRUPJONGKHAR – GUWAHATI (INDIA)

All the clients have to have their Indian visa. They have to get the Indian visa prior to their visit to Bhutan from the Indian embassies abroad. After the completion of the immigration formalities you will drive to Guwahati(India) by the Indian car. Our guide and driver will bid you fare well and we hope to see you again in Bhutan.

By Air: Druk Air, the national carriers is the only service operator in the kingdom and operates several flights per week from Bangkok (Thailand), Delhi & Kolkata (India) and Kathmandu (Nepal) to Paro (Bhutan). The Paro International Airport is located about an hour and a half drive from Thimphu, the capital city of Bhutan.

Paro airport is daylight restricted, and the flights are totally dependent on the weather. As a result, sometimes flights are delayed. It is therefore a good idea to keep at least 24 hours of transit time for connecting flights out of Paro. You might also want to consider traveling on a non-restricted ticket so that if you miss a connecting flight, you can be rerouted or seated on the first available carrier.

Sometimes flights into Paro are disrupted because of unfavorable weather conditions. If this occurs, the flight will stop for the night at the transit airport. To be prepared, you may want to carry your essential personal items in your carry-on luggage.

By Land: Phuentsholing, a Bhutanese town in the southwest has road access to India. It is located about 170 km from the Indian domestic airport at Bagdogra, West Bengal. Phuentsholing is about 172 km from Thimphu the capital city of Bhutan and is about 6hours drive distance. And S/
